Many people don’t often think of skip hire as the first choice for removing waste as they think it’s complicated and expensive.
This isn’t the case. Skip Hire is easy to arrange and can end up saving you money and time in the long run.
The Preparation
It’s worth knowing what skip size you’ll need and whether you will need a permit. This information can be found by checking the skip size and FAQ’s pages of our website.
With small scale renovations like bathrooms we recommend a 4 yard skip. If you are planning on throwing out extra items including old furniture its worth ordering a 6 yard or 8 yard to ensure everything fits in.
For skip hire you will only require a permit from the council should you wish to place the skip on the public highway or verge. We can easily arrange your permit for you as long as we have 5 days notice so you can sit back and wait for your skip to arrive without any hassle.
If the skip is being placed on your driveway or garden a permit is not required and delivery can be made as quick as the same day or latest next day. Alternatively future booking can be taken and allocated timeslots for delivery given.

Before your Skip arrives
You will need to make sure that the area is clear for the skip to be delivered i.e. moving cars etc. If you are planning to place the skip on the public highway with a permit it is also a good idea to give the neighbour’s the heads up so they can make sure their vehicles are not in the way.
The Skip has arrived
Now its time to start having that clear out!
You can put any of the following items in the skip. Old furniture, plastics, garden waste, paper, cardboard, metal, bricks, soil and construction waste.
I’ve filled my skip
With Oxford Skip Hire you can keep the skip for 14 days giving you plenty of time to clear out and throw away those unwanted items. Should you fill the skip sooner than this you are welcome to give us a call on 01235 856305 and we will remove the skip sooner for you. Alternatively if you feel you are struggling with time please give our office and call and we will discuss the options for keeping the skip a little longer.
The skip will be taken back to our transfer station where the process of recycling as much as possible will begin.
